Yana Zinkevych

Yana Zinkevych - a national hero of Ukraine, a veteran and a person who saved more than 2700 people shares her life story in a heartbreaking interview. As the conflict erupted in eastern Ukraine in 2014, Yana - being 18 years old - joined one of battalions as a paramedic. In an interview she explains why she decided to join the volunteer battalion and how she was learning on spot to provide first medical aid. After being injured, she struggles to re-socialise and get back to a “normal life”. “All veterans are ordinary people with some extraordinary experience,” says Yana trying to explain the importance of the society’s support to the veterans.
